Description
No crown guard Submariners, which have come to be called “James Bond” Subs after a famous screen appearance, are by far the most collectable Submariners. Considering that back in the 1950s when Submariners were strictly tool watches worn by divers, the condition of this 6536 is exceptionally clean and mint.
Original stainless steel case is in mint condition with full fat lugs. The case edges are sharp with intact clean bevels. Rolex service bezel is mint and turns as it should and the bezel insert is near mint. Screw down crown works perfectly. Domed plastic crystal is clean. Case dimensions are 37.5mm diameter by 12.5mm thick.
Serial number 155XXX dates production to 1956. Inside case back has date code of II56 which is very early and is marked ‘6536/1’.
Original black Rolex service dial with chapter ring is near mint. Hands are Rolex replacement hands.
Original automatic winding Rolex Caliber 1030 movement with 25 jewels and adjusted to five positions and temperature. Movement has “butterfly” rotor of that period and the movement is perfectly clean and running well.
Watch will be delivered on a new quality leather strap with steel Rolex buckle.
