Description
The Patek Philippe Calatrava reference 570 is a perfect design. It embodies the quintessence of form following function. It is a beautiful timepiece that offers nothing more than is necessary to tell the time on a wristwatch. It’s at once subtle and sublime. The fact that this watch is oversized and 18k rose gold means that this watch was likely built for the South American market in the 1940s. Apparently, the 1940’s Argentinians and Brazilians had more style that anyone else on the planet at the time!
Original oversized case is solid and very rare 18k rose gold with dimensions of 35mm diameter and 9.3mm thick. Crystal is domed acrylic. The finish alternates between polished and brushed surfaces. Case lines are simple and elegant. Condition is mint.
Original rose gold dial is mint, untouched, and with Roman numerals, applied rose gold index style hour markers, subsidiary seconds and rose gold feuille hands.
Original movement is the manual winding Patek Philippe Caliber 12’’’-120 with 18 jewels, Breguet balance spring with micrometer regulator, and is adjusted to heat, cold, isochronism and in 5 positions. The movement is double stamped with the Geneva Seal.
Watch is on black alligator strap. Condition is mint/mint+.
