Description
Here is a Rolex Cosmograph Daytona reference 16523 from ‘L’ series production, first series production, with the highly collectable “Floating Cosmograph” dial and solid 18k gold bezel with Units per Hour scale terminating at ‘200’ instead of ‘400’ as all subsequent production had. This watch is mint with complete original Rolex box and papers.
Case is stainless steel and 18k gold with broad solid 18k gold bezel, solid 18k screw down crown and chronograph pushers. Sapphire crystal. Case is 40mm diameter by 12.5mm thick and is water resistant to 100 meters. The worn hologram is still adhered to the case back.
Dial is champagne with desirable black subdial chapter rings and so-called floating Cosmograph. Look at how the word COSMOGRAPH is separated from the preceding lines of text by an exaggerated spacing. Dial and original golden baton hands all in perfect original untouched mint condition.
If one ever needed proof that Rolex is a perfectionist, they need look no further than Rolex's selection of, and modifications to, the automatic winding El Primero inside this watch. The Zenith El Primero was, and is, recognized as being the best large series production chronograph caliber made. Rolex used the El Primero in their Daytona watches, but not before doing extensive upgrades and refinements. The movement is a C.O.S.C. Certified Chronometer.
Bracelet is the Rolex Oyster with 13 steel and gold links and flip-lock gold and steel clasp.
Watch is complete with all original box and papers.
