Description
The big story is that this Rolex Day Date “President” is 18k white gold and in fantastic condition. For every 40 or 50 yellow gold vintage Day Dates, there is only one white gold watch… and man oh man, are they good looking watches.
Original case is solid 18k white gold with dimensions of 36mm diameter by 12.4mm thick. Crystal is plastic and clean. Screw down 18k white gold crown operates perfectly and smoothly. The fluted bezel, along with the rest of the case, is clean and crisp with full even lugs. By now, 40+ years later, most reference 1803 cases have been polished repeatedly. Not so this case, which is mint.
Original untouched silver dial with radial brushing, with applied factory diamond hour markers and original white gold hands. This is a “pie pan” dial, where the edge slants downward from the main dial surface. This adds a nice depth to the dial, which is missing in modern Day Dates. Dial is in mint condition.
Original movement is the automatic winding Rolex Caliber 1556 with 26 jewels and adjusted to 5 positions and temperature. The movement is a C.O.S.C. Certified Chronometer. Movement is clean and running. The day and date switch over crisply at midnight.
Bracelet is 18k white gold Rolex President with no stretch and invisible clasp.
