Description
Patek Philippe collectors have the satisfaction of knowing that, when it comes to watches, they collect the very best of the best of Swiss horology. This perpetual calendar chronograph, reference 3970G, is a discontinued model. It followed the legendary reference 2499 and was followed, in turn, by the reference 5970.
Case is 18k white gold, which is rare relative to other metals, with dimensions of 36mm diameter by 13mm thick. Sapphire front and display back crystals. "Stepped" lugs. Pump style round chronograph pushers and large winding crown.
Dial is light silver, almost white, with applied white gold hour markers and white gold baton style hands. The perpetual calendar day and month are displayed in apertures below 12 o'clock; the 3 o'clock subdial displays 30 minute chronograph totalizer and leap year indicator; the 6 o'clock subdial displays the date and moonphase; 9 o'clock indicator displays constant seconds and 24 hour time.
Movement is the manual winding Caliber 27-70Q with 24 jewels, adjusted for temperature and in 8 positions and bearing the Geneva Seal.
Strap is black Patek crocodile with 18k Patek buckle.
