Description
Vintage Rolex collectors know that the reference 6241 Daytona is a rare watch. This watch has an original Paul Newman dial, also known as an “Exotic” dial (which is how Rolex itself referred to it when it was a seldom ordered option on the Daytonas of that period). This particular three-color Paul Newman dial is in perfect condition and, of course, authentic and original.
The vintage Daytona market is on fire at the moment, and original and authentic Paul Newman watches have never been more in demand or commanding higher prices.
Original case is stainless steel with dimensions of 37mm diameter by 13.6mm thick. Crystal is plastic. Pump style chronograph pushers and screw down crown are all original and working perfectly. Original bezel with sharp edges and original black insert with ‘50’ to ‘200’ Units per Hour scale. Inside case back is stamped ‘6241’ and shows a service history.
Original untouched black three-color Paul Newman dial with contrasting sub dials and outer white and red minutes scale. Dial is in mint condition with all luminous plots intact. Hands are also mint and original to this watch.
Original movement is the manual winding Rolex Caliber 722-1 with seventeen jewels and adjusted to three positions. Movement features column wheel construction and is very clean and working as it should.
Bracelet is a riveted Rolex Oyster in near-mint condition.
