Description
In 1962, just as in 2013, wearing a solid gold Rolex wristwatch says something about its wearer. In the case of this watch, it says not only the normal things like wealth, taste and refinement, but the early and original dial and hands reveal that the owner is a Rolex connoisseur.
Original solid 18k gold case measures 36mm diameter by 12mm thick. Plastic crystal, original screw down crown and crisp original 18k fluted bezel. This case has been polished minimally over the years and is full metal and mint. Serial number 816XXX dates the watch to 1962.
Original untouched silver dial with some faint and age appropriate spotting along with early applied arrow-head hour markers and original golden sword hands. Dial has pie-pan edge with minutes and seconds chapter along with full day on display and date.
Original automatic winding and C.O.S.C. Certified Chronometer Rolex Caliber 1555 with 25 jewels and adjusted to temperature and in 5 positions. Movement is in clean running condition.
Rolex strap is new crocodile.
