Description
This is a gorgeous and awesome limited edition watch. The Da Vinci is IWC legend Kurt Klaus’s great vision of what a complicated watch should be. One of Kurt’s priorities was that the watch be both elite and affordable. This watch is a true Grand Complication timepiece for the price of a far lesser timepiece. The Da Vinci was originally made as a perpetual calendar paired with chronograph, but this limited edition platinum case reference 3751 adds a split-second chronograph (also called “rattrapante”).
Case is solid platinum and massive - with dimensions of 40mm diameter by 50mm long by 16mm thick. Crown is screw down. Domed crystal. Water resistant to 30 meters. Case back is massive and has the watch’s serial number and limited edition number of 10X/500.
The dial is a stealthy and refined silver. Displays are: date in the 3 o'clock subdial; month and chronograph 12 hour totalizer in the 6 o'clock subdial; day and constant seconds in the 9 o'clock subdial; moonphase and 30 minute chronograph totalizer in the 12 o'clock subdial. There is also a 4 digit year display between 7 and 8 o'clock. The dial, despite its many indications, is quite harmonious and legible.
Movement is IWC's automatic winding Caliber C.79251 with 43 jewels and a 44 hour power reserve.
Strap is unworn black IWC crocodile with platinum IWC tang buckle.
This has to be the complicated watch deal of the century... a platinum perpetual calendar with split seconds ("rattrapante") chronograph... you'd better buy it before I change my mind and decide to keep it!
Watch is new condition with box and papers.
