Description
Here is a Patek Philippe reference 1579 chronograph in rare 18k rose gold with champagne dial. The 1579 is characterized by its uniquely shaped lugs, its oversized case and rectangular chronograph pushers. The 1579 was produced in the 1940s with some final watches leaving the factory in the early 1950s.
Original case is 18k rose gold with dimensions of 36mm diameter by 11mm thick, with three part construction. The case is round, while the claw shape lugs and the square chronograph buttons play against the case’s roundness to create an interesting and unique case in the history of Patek chronographs. Crystal is domed acrylic.
Original untouched champagne dial with applied golden arabic ‘12’ and ‘6’ rose gold feuille hands. Original chronograph hands are blued. There is a tachymeter scale around the periphery of the dial with an inner minutes and fifths of a second scale. Two sunken subdials, one for constant seconds and the other is the chronograph totalizer.
Movement is the manual winding Patek Philippe Caliber 13’’’ with 23 jewels, Breguet balance spring, micrometer regulation, and is adjusted in 8 positions. The chronograph features column wheel construction. The movement is clean and running.
The watch is on a new modern Patek Philippe crocodile strap.
