Description
I can honestly say that vintage Day Dates don’t get any nicer than this watch. Yes, they can have eccentric dials, or maybe Elvis gave one to Marilyn Monroe, but for a straight forward vintage President, they don’t get any nicer.
The original solid 18k gold case is 36mm diameter by 12.7mm thick. The lugs and bezel are thick and crisp. The original gold screw-down crown operates perfectly. Original plastic crystal. Serial number 2699XXX dates the watch to 1970.
Original untouched pie-pan silver dial with collectable “wide boy” applied golden hour markers and adjacent, intact luminous dots (except at 7 o’clock where the luminous is degraded) and original hands. Full day on display at 12 o’clock and date at 3 o’clock.
Automatic winding Rolex Caliber 1556 with 26 jewels and adjusted to temperature and in 5 positions. Movement is pristine and running and is a C.O.S.C. Certified Chronometer.
Okay, so this watch is mint and beautiful, but it also has an original double set of punched papers along with the original Rolex box, which makes it a very rare example indeed.
