Description
Here is a really nice watch, which was one of my original lust objects when I first got into watches way back when. Watch fans go back and forth between who makes the better dive watch – Omega or Rolex? The SeaMaster has its staunch supporters and the Submariner has its ardent supporters. Rolex also makes the Sea-Dweller, which is a genuine tool watch with an impressive history. BUT, and here is the big thing: Rolex doesn’t make a diver’s chronograph. Omega does, and this one is the most legendary of all: the SeaMaster Professional Diver’s chronograph. Robust is its middle name!
The watch is water resistant up to a conservative 300 meters. This version with the mirror finished bezel and blue dial is the rarest of the versions that Omega made.
Stainless steel case features helium release valve, massive count-up diver’s timing bezel, thick sapphire crystal, water-proof chronograph pushers and the SeaMaster logo in relief on the case back. Dimensions are 42mm diameter by 16.5mm thick.
Dial is dark blue with the SeaMaster waves engraved as decoration. Luminous hour markers and cool skeletonized hands also with luminous. Subdials display chronograph 30 minutes totalizer, chronograph 12 hour totalizer and constant seconds. Date window at 3 o’clock.
Movement is the automatic winding Omega Caliber 1164 with 25 jewels, beating at 28,800 beats per hour, with 44 hour maximum power reserve and is a C.O.S.C. Certified Chronometer.
Bracelet is a classic. Heavy links and superior clasp.
