Description
Here is a collector’s piece for sure: 1952 Datejust model 6105 in solid 18k rose gold. Collectors call this watch the Big Bubble Back and Ovettone, because its case design has characteristics of the famous Bubble Back model, which was Rolex was transitioning away from toward the Datejust model.
Original solid 18k rose gold case measures 36mm diameter by 14mm thick. Domed plastic crystal. Original reeded bezel, which is the early predecessor of the fluted bezel. Case back is more rounded than the later flat Datejust case back. Serial number 791XXX dates to 1952.
Dial is silver with applied golden indices, sweet original golden Alpha hands and date framed in gold and with all red numerals. Applied golden Rolex crown beneath 12 o’clock.
Original automatic winding Rolex Caliber A 296 with 18 jewels.
Watch is on new brown crocodile strap with Rolex buckle.
