Description
The Juan Pablo Montoya Royal Oak is probably the hottest of all the limited edition Royal Oaks. Audemars Piguet made only 1000 watches in titanium, many of which were gobbled up by collectors immediately upon its introduction, and a survey of the market rarely turns up more than one or two watches for sale. Mr. Montoya has loyal and enthusiastic fans and you will find they bought up these watches sight unseen at retailers as soon as A.P. announced the watch was being produced. They definitely have not been disappointed by the watch or the price appreciation they have received.

Audemars decided it would be cool to make the watch from many of the same materials used in Formula 1 cars, and the watch is made mostly from titanium and carbon fiber. Case measures 42mm by 54mm by 15mm… and thanks to the titanium and carbon fiber this is a very light watch despite its massive size! Sapphire crystals front and back. Famous Royal Oak octagonal bezel is carbon fiber with exposed, structural hexagonal screws.

Dial is white with black and luminous hour markers and hands and three subdials: one for running seconds, one for chronograph 30 minute totalizer and one for chronograph 12 hour totalizer. Date at 3 o’clock.

Movement is the automatic winding Audemars Piguet Caliber 2226 with 54 jewels and adjusted to heat, cold, isochronism and in 5 positions. Winding rotor is 21k for increased mass which means improved winding efficiency.

Strap is unique to the Montoya model with its exposed white stitching. Deployment clasp.

Watch is indiscernible from new with collector’s box and booklets.
