Description
Here is a vintage original condition Rolex Datejust reference 1625 also known as a Thunderbird. The Thunderbird moniker comes from the bezel, which is a bi-directional count-up timing device. On these vintage Datejusts, the Thunderbird bezel is rare. Of course, the condition of the gold bezel means everything and the fine engraving and numerals in relief on this watch are in great shape.
The 14k gold and stainless steel case on this watch is in worn but unpolished condition. Crystal is plastic. The screw down crown is operating fine. The bezel is in mint condition and has not had its metal eroded.
The champagne pie-pan dial is original and untouched. Applied golden hour markers and original hands. Date at 3 o’clock. The dial has a radial brush finish and looks great. Dial is in perfect condition.
Original automatic winding Rolex Caliber 1570 with 26 jewels and adjusted to temperature and in 5 positions. This movement is a C.O.S.C. Certified Chronometer and is clean and running.
Serial number 1891XXX dates production to 1968. Rolex 14k gold and steel Oyster bracelet.
Watch has Rolex box and original double-punched papers.
