Description
Patek Philippe collectors have the satisfaction of knowing that, when it comes to watches, they collect the very best of Swiss horology. This second series perpetual calendar chronograph, reference number 3970E, is in never polished, clean and new condition and complete with Patek box and Certificate dated February 1990.
Case is 18k yellow gold with dimensions of 36mm diameter by 13mm thick. Sapphire crystal and solid screw down case back. "Stepped" lugs which, like the rest of the case, have never been diminished by polishing. Pump style round chronograph pushers and large winding crown.
Original untouched second generation silver dial with applied golden straight hour markers and, interestingly original first generation gold leaf style hands. The perpetual calendar day and month are displayed in apertures below 12 o'clock; the 3 o'clock subdial displays 30 minute chronograph totalizer and leap year indicator; the 6 o'clock subdial displays the date and moonphase; 9 o'clock indicator displays constant seconds and 24 hour time. This dial is beautiful - the silver is just the right hue and the many levels of information are organized and displayed in an intuitive and legible manner.
Movement is the manual winding Caliber 27-70Q with 24 jewels, adjusted for hot and cold, and bearing the Geneva Seal.
Strap is original, vintage and unworn Patek medium brown alligator with 18k gold buckle.
Watch is new old stock and will be delivered with Patek Philippe box and papers.
