Description
My favorite aspect of collecting Rolex watches is finding interesting dials. Rolex has produced a dizzyingly diverse assortment of dials over the years, from using meteors, minerals and, in this case, burl wood. Let’s face it, meteors are cool, but wood is just such an organic substance and so fundamental to our human experience. It’s great that Rolex celebrates this in the form of a rare watch dial for its Day Date model.
Original solid 18k gold case measures 36mm diameter by 11.9mm thick. Crystal is sapphire. Crown screws down. Solid gold fluted bezel. Case has its full metal and is in mint condition.
Original burl wood dial with applied golden hour markers and golden baton hands. Full day display at 12 o’clock and date at 3 o’clock. Dial is in perfect condition and is beautiful. Given that this is an organic material, no two wood dials are the same, as each has its unique grain pattern.
Original automatic winding Rolex Caliber 3055 with 27 jewels, adjusted in 5 positions and to temperature. Movement is a C.O.S.C. Certified Chronometer. Movement provides quick setting of the date.
New Patek Philippe alligator strap with Rolex buckle.
