Description
The Patek Philippe reference 5016 is in the highest echelon of collector's watches. Presenting minutes repetition, tourbillon and perpetual calendar in a classical platinum case, this is one of Patek Philippe's most complicated and most sought after watches ever.

This specific watch was originally sold to the famous Ferrari and Patek collector Mr. Yoshiyuki Hayashi of Japan in 2000. His famous collection featured Pateks specially commissioned with a PAIR of unique dials. This 5016P is the last available timepiece on the market from Mr. Hayashi’s collection.

The dials are unique for their applied roman numerals along with embossed minutes and seconds chapter. There is one black dial (mounted on the watch) and a matching opalescent (silver-white) dial. Furthermore, the watch has dauphine hands instead of the pomme hands used on all other 5016s.

The date is displayed along the retrograde scale from 8 o'clock to 4 o'clock; day and month and years/leap year are displated in the apertures at 9, 3 and 12 o'clock respectively; moonphase and seconds are displayed at 6 o'clock. The seconds hand is blued.

Case is solid platinum with dimensions of 37mm diameter by 15mm thick. Sapphire crystals front and display back. Lugs are stepped and curve downward for comfort.

Movement is the manual winding Patek Philippe Caliber RTO 27 PS QR which has 28 jewels, self-compensating free-sprung balance, adjusted to temperature, isochronism and five positions. The one minute tourbillon is visible through the display back and resides in a polished steel cage. The repeater mechanism is also visible through the display back. The moonphase is accurate to one day in 122 years. The minute repeater tone is extremely clear. This is Patek Philippe's second most complicated wristwatch ever.

This watch is obviously a must have timepiece for serious Patek Philippe collectors. The black roman numeral dial and dauphine hands is a spectacular visual combination. The watch is indiscernible from new and complete with deluxe Patek box, pouch, setting stylus, Extract from the Archives, Certificate of Origin, Chronometer certificate, along with booklets, wallet, second (solid) platinum case back and, of course, the second dial.
