Description
Breguet is a top echelon old Swiss watchmaking firm. Even after more than a century of making wristwatches, Breguet makes a statement with this timepiece. Breguet watches are known not only for their horological attributes, but also for their styling. The guilloche on the dial, the beautiful hand engraving and decoration on the rear movement plate, and the fluted case sides are all Breguet traditions.
This case is platinum and 40mm diameter by 12.4mm thick. Sapphire front and display back. Strap is secured to the case with screws. Massive domed bezel, engraved rear bezel, signed crown and fluted case sides.
Silver dial employing several styles of guilloche along with brush finished rings with various calendar data and timekeeping chapters. Hands are blued. Time is kept by the pomme hands on the uppermost ring with the roman numeral scale. The wavy hand indicates the date along with retrograde scale arching across the top of the dial. Month is indicated in the dial at 3 o’clock. Seconds are indicated at 6 o’clock and the seconds hand is an appendage of the one-minute tourbillon visible through the cut-out in the dial. Days are shown in the 9 o’clock subdial.
Movement is hand assembled, hand decorated and hand finished. Feast your eyes on the rear plate – a true work of art! The Breguet Caliber 558.1 has 21 jewels and is adjusted to six positions. This is a perpetual calendar and one-minute tourbillon.
