Description
There is endless demand in not only the watch market, but also the art and collectors’ markets generally, for unimpeachably original Rolex Paul Newman Daytonas. This rare reference 6264 is such an investment grade watch.
Original stainless steel case measures 38mm in diameter by 13.9mm thick. Crystal is plastic. Original pump style chronograph pushers and screw down crown operating perfectly. The original black bezel insert is clean. The bezel is original and the edges are sharp. Case edges are sharp and crisp. The condition of the case is mint plus. Inside case back is engraved ‘6264’ and serial number 2417XXX dates production to 1968.
Original three color black Paul Newman dial is just beautiful and in mint, perfect condition with step. Contrasting white subdials display constant seconds, chronograph 30 minute and 12 hour totalizers. The hands are original and also in mint condition.
Original movement is the manual winding Caliber 727 with 17 jewels and adjusted to three positions. This caliber features column wheel construction, which is the superlative chronograph construction from both an aesthetic and functional perspective. The movement is clean and running.
Watch is on a Rolex folded link Oyster bracelet reference 7835 with 13 links. Bracelet is in mint condition.
