This vintage Oyster Cosmograph Daytona reference 6263 is 18k yellow gold and features a very special Floating Tropical dial.
Original untouched gold dial with large space between “OYSTER” and “SUPERLATIVE CHRONOMETER”, which collectors call a Floating dial. Furthermore, the black subdials have taken on a brown hue, known as Tropical by collectors. Dial also has applied golden hour markers and original baton hands. Chronograph totalizers for 30 minutes and 12 hours.
Original 18k gold case is 38mm in diameter by 13.3mm thick. Plastic crystal. Mark 1 screw down chronograph pushers and crown all working properly. Original 18k bezel features a ‘50’ through ‘200’ Units per Hour scale on the original black bezel insert. Serial number 3231XXX dates production to 1972.
Original movement is the manual winding Rolex Caliber 727 with 17 jewels and adjusted to 3 positions. This is a column wheel chronograph construction. Movement is clean and running.
Bracelet is vintage 18k gold Rolex Jubilee.
