Description
I caught the gold watch bug five or so years after wearing only stainless steel watches. At first, I thought gold watches were too ostentatious. One day in 2004, I was at a jeweler and was smitten by a Rolex Day Date President. I bought it, and it has only been on a rare occasion since, that I have worn anything but an 18k watch. The gold is just so warm in color, and as it ages, the hue becomes deeper and richer.
This vintage 1803 Day Date has what the vast majority of vintage watches do not: its original Rolex box and papers, including the Chronometer Certificate.
Case is 36mm with plastic crystal, screw down crown (operating perfectly), fluted gold bezel, automatic winding Rolex Caliber 1555 with 26 jewels, and classic silver dial with applied golden hour markers and golden hands. Case back has personalized engraving.
Completely original, authentic, clean inside and outside, and running fine… this watch will last several more lifetimes despite coming into the world in 1965. Ah, they just don’t make them like they used to!
