Description
This vintage Oyster Cosmograph Daytona reference 6263 is 18k yellow gold and features a very special Floating Tropical dial. Serial number 2330XXX dates its production to very early in 6263 production, from 1970.
Original untouched gold dial with large space between “OYSTER” and “SUPERLATIVE CHRONOMETER”, which collectors call a Floating dial. Furthermore, the black subdials have taken on a brown hue, known as “tropical” by collectors. Dial also has applied golden hour markers and original baton hands. Chronograph totalizers for 30 minutes and 12 hours.
Original 18k gold case is 38mm in diameter by 13.3mm thick. Plastic crystal. Mark 1 screw down chronograph pushers and crown all working properly. Original 18k bezel features a ‘50’ through ‘200’ Units per Hour scale on the clean original black bezel insert. Case back has a personalized engraving.
Original movement is the manual winding Rolex Caliber 727 with 17 jewels and adjusted to 3 positions. This is a column wheel chronograph construction. Movement is clean and running.
Watch is on an unworn Patek Philippe strap with Rolex buckle.
