Description
This Rolex chronograph provides the most compelling attributes that a vintage wristwatch can possess: rarity, attractiveness, and original unpolished case, and mint perfect untouched original dial. This is, indeed, a beautiful watch.
Original never polished 18k case with faceted lugs, three-part construction with original finish, rectangular chronograph pushers, original crown, domed acrylic crystal as well as domed snap on 18k case back. This is very much a Bubble Back chronograph, if there ever were one. The lugs have little nubs that a tube inside the strap secures to. The serial number 131XX is clearly legible on the outside surface of the case back along with an engraved Rolex coronet. Case is 32.2mm wide by 39.2mm long from lug tip to lug tip by 11.3mm thick.
Original, untouched and frankly beautiful matte silver dial with applied diamond shaped hour markers, sunken subdials, original golden dauphine hands and original golden subdial hands, tachymetre scale and blue telemetre scale at edge of dial. Dial is in perfect condition.
Original and clean Valjoux Caliber 69 with 17 jewels and column wheel construction. Movement winds smoothly and runs well.
Watch is on non-Rolex vintage strap with vintage Rolex buckle.
This reference 3834 is sometimes referred to as a Boy’s size chronograph. This new old stock condition vintage Rolex chronograph from the 1940’s is one of the nicest watches I have ever seen.
