Description
The reference 1518 is the original Patek Philippe perpetual calendar chronograph... the inspiration for subsequent models like the references 2499, 3970, 5970 and 5270. It is truly beautiful and it is a very important wristwatch.
Over the thirteen years of 1518 production, Patek made only 281 model 1518 watches. This is a first series version, made in 1948.
In real estate, the oft repeated truism is “Location, Location, Location”. With collectable vintage watches, the truism is “Condition, Condition, Condition”. The 18k case on our watch is in clean, never polished condition, with uncompromised lugs and pure case lines. Domed acrylic crystal and rectangular chronograph pushers. Dimensions are 36mm diameter, 42.5mm in length from lug tip to lug tip, and 13.9mm thick.
Original silvered dial with applied golden arabic numerals and dot hour markers. Day and month apertures above the "PATEK PHILIPPE GENEVE" text and moonphase and date display/scale around the moonphase display. The moonphase disc is a deep blue with golden stars and moon. Hours, minutes, and seconds hands are leaf style and golden, while the chronograph and date hands are blued. Seconds and tachymetre scale at the periphery of dial.
Original movement is the manual winding Patek Philippe Caliber 13''' with 23 jewels and adjusted to 8 positions. Movement is winding smoothly and running perfectly.
Strap is a hand-sewn brown modern Patek alligator with vintage 18k Patek buckle.
