Description
Here is a real treat: an unpolished stainless steel vintage Rolex chronograph reference 2508 from 1945. Seventy years young, and what a great birth year gift this watch would make.
Stainless steel case with sharp edges, bombe plastic crystal, steel snap back with ‘2508’ engraved inside and Rolex coronet and serial number engraved on outside. This engraving is undiminished, as is the rest of the case, from any polishing. Diameter is 35mm by 14.2mm thick. Rectangular chronograph pushers.
Original untouched silver dial, which has taken on a champagne patina, with applied ‘12’, ‘6’ and hour markers. Two subdials, one for running seconds and a 30 minute chronograph totalizer. Original hands including blued chronograph seconds and subdial hands. Dial signed ROLEX CHRONOGRAPHE ANTI-MAGNETIQUE suggesting this watch was originally sold in Europe.
The manual winding column wheel chronograph Rolex Caliber is an improved Valjoux caliber 22 ebauche. Vintage chronograph collectors know that the Valjoux 22 is one of the all time great two-register chronograph movements. This movement is clean and running.
New leather strap with Rolex steel buckle.
