Description
The big story is that this Rolex Day Date “President” is 18k rose gold (or pink gold as some prefer to call it) and in fantastic condition. For every 50 yellow gold vintage Day Dates, there is only one rose gold watch… and man oh man, are they good looking watches.
Original case is 18k rose gold with fluted bezel and dimensions of 36mm diameter by 12.4mm thick. Crystal is plastic and clean. Screw down 18k crown operates perfectly and smoothly. Serial number 1310XXX dates production to 1965.
Original and unusual silver dial with a combination of applied diamond hour markers and wide golden “doorstop” hour markers. This is a “pie pan” dial, where the edge slants downward from the main dial surface. This adds a nice depth to the dial, which is missing in modern Day Dates. Full day on display along with the date.
Original movement is the automatic winding Rolex Caliber 1555 with 26 jewels and adjusted to 5 positions and temperature. The movement is a C.O.S.C. Certified Chronometer. Movement is clean and running well. The day and date switch over crisply at midnight.
Bracelet is 18k rose gold Rolex President with moderate stretch and invisible clasp.
