Patek Philippe Ref. 5118P in Platinum with full Baguette diamond dial and bezel - Rare!

This rare Patek Philippe wristwatch came to market just as the financial crisis of 2007/2008 was gathering momentum. Fascinatingly, the watch symbolically captures what was unfolding at the time of its introduction: the black dial representing the dark days of crashing financial markets and along with it the worldwide economy. The baguette diamond bezel symbolizes the brightness of the once in a generation opportunity to buy assets at distressed prices and the optimism that comes along with such shrewd buying. Not surprisingly, very few 5118Ps were made and we know of no other example to come to market.

Platinum case with modern and perfect 38mm diameter and clean Calatrava case lines, and sapphire crystals front and in the display back. 52 baguette diamond bezel.

Glossy lacquered black dial with diamond hour markers with baguette markers at ‘6’, ‘9’ and ‘12’ o’clock. Date window at 3 o’clock is framed in white gold. Large and beautiful white gold dauphine hands.

Movement is the automatic winding Patek Philippe Caliber 315/290 with 29 jewels and stamped with the Geneva Seal.

Watch is on black Patek crocodile strap with special 18k white gold buckle emblazoned “PATEK PHILIPPE”.
