The Rolex Datejust reference 6305 is known as the "Ovettone", Italian for "Big Egg", and was produced between 1953 and 1957 only. It is highly prized by Rolex collectors. Finding one of these rare watches with original black dial is exceedingly rare. 18k rose gold, 36mm diameter by 13mm thick, domed plastic crystal. Crisp original solid rose gold reeded bezel. Original screw down crown. Case is in immaculate condition. Serial number 948XXX dates this watch to 1953. Model is engraved as BREVET 6305. Original untouched black gilt dial with applied rose gold hour markers and original rose gold Alpha hands. Date numerals are all red and date window is framed in rose gold. Movement is automatic Rolex Caliber with 18 jewels. Certified chronometer. Brown crocodile strap with rose gold tone Rolex buckle.
