Patek Philippe collectors will instantly recognize the resemblance to the legendary and iconic Patek Philippe reference 530 chronograph from the 1940s/50s. The 2010 introduction of the reference 5170 is Patek Philippe's most overt gesture in its history of revisiting a vintage classic. This 18k white gold watch is the 5170’s latest incarnation.
The white gold case measures 40.5mm diameter by 11.2mm thick. It's so nice to have such a strong vintage look in a larger modern case. It's the best of both worlds! The front and display back crystals are sapphire. The chronograph pushers are square, just like they were back in the day. Every surface of the case is polished except for the sides of the square pushers, which are brush finished.
Vintage chronograph collectors hold a special place in their hearts for pulsations dials, which were designed with doctors in mind. In an insanely cool nod to the past, Patek has presented the 5170 with a white pulsations dial! The dial also features applied Breguet numerals and baton hands.
Movement is the manual winding Patek Philippe Caliber 29-535 with 33 jewels and adjusted for heat, cold, isochronism and in 5 positions. This brand new chronograph caliber features column wheel construction as well as the new and uber prestigious Patek Philippe Seal. The Geneva Seal, which Patek used to submit its watches for and invariably earn, applied only to the quality of the movement. The new Patek Philippe Seal raises the bar significantly and applies to the entire timepiece, as the most stringent and highest possible designation of overall excellence used by any manufacturer, ever.
Strap is hand sewn black Patek crocodile with 18k white gold Patek deployment clasp.
Watch is brand new factory sealed with box, open papers and hang tag.
