Description
Even in the large, diverse, elite world of Patek watches, the now discontinued reference 5070 in 18k yellow gold with black dial stands out for its good looks. This watch is one of Patek's homeruns.

I think the 5070 will be considered one of the most important turn of the twenty first century Patek watches. The 5070 marks the stylistic change that took place in the firm's product portfolio when Thierry Stern took over the company from his dad and predecessor, Philippe Stern. Big and bold and exciting, the 5070 was a look at not only the new wristwatches that would follow under Thierry's leadership, but also his vision for Switzerland's most revered watch manufacture.

Let's start with the case, which measures 42mm diameter by 13mm thick. The bezel is very broad and is set off by the large winding crown, rectangular chrono-pushers and long, thick lugs. Magnificent case! 18k Patek deployment clasp mounted on the black crocodile Patek strap.

Dial is black and very handsome. Applied yellow gold numerals and hands. The outermost chapter on the dial is a simple seconds register for the chronograph seconds hand, while the inner chapter is a tachymetric scale.

Movement is the manual winding Patek Philippe Caliber 27, clearly visible through the sapphire display back, proudly displaying its Geneva Seal. 28 jewels in this beauty, which beats at a leisurely 18,000 BPH... which helps to extend the power reserve to approximately 56 hours.

Watch is in excellent condition with box and Extract from the Archives.
