Description
The Patek Philippe reference 3940 perpetual calendar was produced from 1985 through 2006. That is a long time for a watch manufacture to produce a single reference, but the 3940 is no ordinary watch. The presentation of the calendar functions is without par for its balance and clarity. Add to that the dauphine hands, silvered dial, applied hour markers and simple caselines and you have the perfect perpetual calendar.
Silvered Sigma dial is original and untouched and provides the time, month and leap year cycle, date and moonphase, day and 24 hour time. The embossed minutes chapter is exceptionally well done, with its golden dots glistening at the dial’s edge.
Case is 18k yellow gold with dimensions of 35mm diameter by 8.5mm high. Sapphire crystal. Case back is solid gold. Case is in mint condition.
Movement is the automatic winding Patek Philippe Caliber 240 Q with 27 jewels, 48 hour power reserve, 22k micro rotor, and stamped with the Geneva Seal. This is one of, if not the most, reliable perpetual calendar mechanisms ever produced by any manufacture.
