Description
The Calatrava is the most iconic dress watch in the world. While there are many variations, perhaps none incorporate more of the classical Calatrava elements than the reference 5119. The hobnail bezel, for example, and the snow white dial with printed roman numerals and subsidiary seconds dial. In fact, you could buy this watch and a Rolex Daytona in stainless steel and have an instant, yet complete, watch collection from the two kings of horology.
Case is 18k white gold with dimensions of 36mm diameter by 8mm thick. The front crystal is slightly domed sapphire, while the case back has a flat sapphire display crystal. The bezel has Patek’s distinctive Hobnail engraving, which not only looks great, but also protects the bezel from getting scratches. The crown is signed with the Calatrava Cross.
Dial is white with printed black roman numerals. Hands are blackened, and there is a subsidiary seconds dial above the 6 o’clock position.
Movement is the manual winding Patek Philippe Caliber 215 PS with 18 jewels and a 44 hour power reserve. Movement beats at 28,800 beats per hour, and is stamped with the Geneva Seal.
