Description
Here is a nice, clean all original vintage Rolex Datejust reference 1625 also known as a “Thunderbird”. The Thunderbird moniker comes from the bezel, which is a bi-directional count-up timing device. On these vintage Datejusts, the Thunderbird bezel is rare. Of course, the condition of the bezel means everything and the fine engraving and numerals in relief on this watch are in great shape.
The stainless steel case on this watch is in mint condition. Crystal is plastic. The screw down crown is operating fine. The bezel is in mint condition as well. Serial number 2691XXX dates production to 1971. Inside case back has date code of ‘I.71’ showing that this watch left the factory in the first quarter of 1971.
The dark silver pie-pan dial is original and untouched. Applied hour markers. Original hands. Date at 3 o’clock. The dial has a radial brush finish.
Original automatic winding Rolex Caliber 1570 with 26 jewels and adjusted to temperature and in 5 positions. This movement is a C.O.S.C. Certified Chronometer and is pristine and running fine.
Strap is vintage Rolex crocodile with Rolex buckle. Watch is complete with original box and papers, which is very rare for a Thunderbird.
