Description
They’re not making them anymore. You hear people say that a lot in the antique world. Or, they don’t make them like they used to. And it’s true; Rolex isn’t making these 6265s or any vintage Daytona models ever again. Fact is, they are getting rarer every year. No chronograph has ever looked as nice as one of these vintage Daytonas and likely, none ever will.
Significantly, this watch has its original Rolex box and papers which is a rarity and makes the watch that much rarer.
Unpolished original stainless steel case is 37mm in diameter by 13.5mm thick. Original screw down chronograph pushers and original screw down crown, all working perfectly. Plastic crystal. Original bezel with Units per Hour scale from ‘50’ to ‘200’. Bezel is clean and with original sharp edge. Serial number 6393XXX dates production to 1979.
Original untouched Big Red ‘DAYTONA’ dial is silver with applied hour markers and contrasting black subdials with concentric guilloche. Hands are all original and the subdial hands are white so as to maximize legibility against the black subdials. Dial is in perfect condition.
Original movement is the manual winding Rolex Caliber 727 with 17 jewels and adjusted to three positions. This chronograph caliber features column wheel construction. Movement is pristine and running great.
Bracelet is Rolex Oyster in mint condition.
