Description
I sincerely believe the Patek Philippe 3940 is the nicest perpetual calendar by any manufacturer ever. When you think about a perpetual in your mind, this is what it looks like. Classic, legible, balanced and beautiful.
The Patek Philippe reference 3940 perpetual calendar was produced from 1985 through 2006. That is a mighty long time for a watch manufacture to produce a single reference, but the 3940 is no ordinary watch.
Silver “sigma” dial is original and untouched. Applied golden hour markers, embossed minutes chapter and wonderful golden dauphine hands. The 3 o’clock subdial displays month and leap year, 6 o’clock subdial displays moonphase and date, 9 o’clock subdial displays day and 24 hour time.
Case is 18k yellow gold with dimensions of 37mm diameter by 8.5mm high. Sapphire crystals front and display back. The second solid gold case back also accompanies the watch.
Movement is the automatic winding Patek Philippe Caliber 240 Q with 27 jewels, 48 hour power reserve, 22k micro rotor, and stamped with the Geneva Seal. This is one of, if not the most, reliable perpetual calendar mechanisms ever produced by any manufacture.
