Description
Never before seen prototype gold leaf dial on a 1972 Rolex Day Date President. Rolex has always saved their most imaginative and creative and beautiful dials for the Day Date model. Dial is made by Fluckiger & Fils, which is a Swiss firm making artisan dials for leading brands likes Patek Philippe and Rolex. This dial was shown to Rolex as a prototype and was never brought into commercial production. Only a handful of leaf dials exist in 18k and none were ever sold at retail by a Rolex jeweler.

Case is 18k with fluted bezel, plastic crystal and screw down crown. Case is clean and mint.

Prototype gold leaf dial is not only great looking but extremely interesting as a collectable. The dial is original and untouched and has applied hour markers, original hands and full day and date displays. It is also a Sigma dial.

Rolex automatic winding Caliber 1556 with 26 jewels and adjusted in 5 positions and with C.O.S.C. Chronometer certification. Movement is pristine and running smoothly.

Rolex 18k riveted Oyster bracelet with 12 links and no stretch with ‘72’ date code. It is a rarity to find a Day Date on an Oyster bracelet, and given the 1972 date code, this is almost certainly the original bracelet the watch was delivered on.

This is an unprecedented and likely unique opportunity to own a never before seen Rolex wristwatch with astoundingly rare original and untouched gold leaf dial.
