ROLEX DATOCOMPAX 6236 TRIPLE DATE CHRONOGRAPH JEAN CLAUDE KILLY STEEL

Here is an absolutely amazing watch; the kind of watch that watch aficionados and collectors read about in reference books and on the Internet, but very seldomly actually come to market. The DatoCompax Triple Date chronograph watches from Rolex are very few and very far between. The Rolex DatoCompax models have become known as the “Jean-Claude Killy” after the legendary French skier who is both an Olympic legend and Rolex wearer. The 6236 is the final production model of Rolex triple date chronographs which were made from 1958 into 1962, and has three predecessors. The 6236 is the only model with three part case and it has a larger bezel than the other models. Case is 36mm and has date setting pushers imbedded, along with original screw down crown and pump chronograph pushers. Original untouched two-tone silver dial with applied hour markers and Rolex crown at 12 o’clock. Apertures for day and month along with central date hand which indicates the date along the blue date scale at the dial’s outer edge. It should be noted that another tell that this watch is from the final series production is the closed ‘6’s and ‘9’s in the date chapter. Three sunken subdials with concentric guilloche. All hands are original. Blued subdial hands and chronograph seconds hand and hour and minutes hands have inlaid luminous. Dial is signed ROLEX OYSTER CHRONOGRAPHE ANTIMAGNETIC. There is also a seconds and fifths of a second chapter. Movement is the original, clean and running, Rolex Caliber 72B with 17 jewels, manual winding and column wheel construction. Rolex folded link Oyster bracelet. Watch is in mint original condition.
