Description
The authoritative COLLEZIONARE OROLOGI DA POLSO ROLEX SUBMARINER book by Mondani and Ravagnani features a nearly identical watch to the watch presented here, on pages 154-157. This military issued Submariner is the stuff of legends, both on the battlefield and in collectors’ circles.
A built to specifications military Submariner has a few key differences from a regular Submariner:
** bezel with one minute gradations all around
** massive fixed bars between lugs
** special hands
** circled 'T'
** caseback with issue numbers
This watch is in mint+ condition. Steel 40mm case with full thick lugs, domed plastic crystal, original screw down crown and case back with both the ‘5513’ and serial number engraved on the inside surface. Serial number 3764XXX dates the watch to 1972.
Original untouched black dial with the circled ‘T’ and special hands. Most collectors have never seen one of these watches/dials except in collectors’ books. You need to take 10 minutes to admire it every time you take out the watch. Owning one of these is one of collectings greatest conquests.
Rolex Caliber 1520 automatic movement with 26 jewels. Movement is pristine and running.
Strap is unworn military strap with matte hardware. This watch is an incredible opportunity to own one of the very most elusive timepieces in existence.
