Description
When La Tradition debuted a few years ago it received lots of attention, and most deservedly so. There are not too many modern timepieces that generate Oohs and Ahhs from veteran collectors and the watch press, but this watch definitely did. It offers a modern and progressive interpretation of an old classic: the skeleton watch.
Case is solid 18k white gold with Breguet’s characteristic channeling on the case sides and with dimensions of 38mm diameter by 12mm thick. Sapphire crystals front and display back.
Naturally, by definition a skeleton (or squelette) watch has no dial. This La Tradition is the nicest example of the genre. Time is displayed in the small dial at 12 o’clock which features guilloche, roman numerals and Breguet (or Pomme) hands. Power reserve indicator with blued hand to the left of the time dial. Blued screws abound and the balance wheel spins at 4 o’clock. Fascinatingly (is that a word?), many of the mechanical elements shown in the front of this watch for the wearer’s pleasure have been re-arranged from their normal location on the rear side of the movement.
Rare gray finish movement is the manual winding Breguet Manufacture Caliber 507 DR with 34 jewels, approximate power reserve of 50 hours, Parechute shock protection and beating at 21,600 beats per hour. Movement is hand assembled and hand finished and is exquisitely executed.
New dark brown alligator strap unbranded with 18k white gold Breguet tang buckle.
Watch is like new with box and documents.
