ROLEX EXPLORER 6610 AUTOMATIC STEEL

The Explorer, also known as the Explorer 1, features one of my favorite dials of all-time. More than any other watch dial I can think of, the Explorer dial adheres to the form follows function rule. Black with luminous hour markers and hands, with inverted triangle at 12 o’clock and arabic ‘3’, ‘6’, and ‘9’ keep the wearer oriented to the dial at all times and from any angle. Case is no frills and does nothing more or less than keeping the dial and movement safe. Original stainless steel case measures 35mm diameter by 12.5mm thick. Crystal is domed plastic. Steel case back screws down. Screw down crown operating perfectly. Original smooth bezel. Serial number 168XXX dates production to 1956. Original untouched beautiful black gilt chapter ring with original gilt hands. Original automatic winding Rolex Caliber 1030 with 25 jewels and adjusted in 5 positions and to temperature. Movement is a C.O.S.C. Certified Chronometer. Movement is clean and running. Rolex vintage Jubilee bracelet with vintage clasp. This early and beautiful Rolex Explorer 6610 is a rare and well preserved 60 year old wristwatch and will make a great addition to any Rolex collection. It is eminently wearable and almost certainly an excellent investment as well.
