Description
Every watch lover should indulge themselves with a solid gold Rolex watch on a gold bracelet. Personally, I didn’t like gold watches for my first five years of collecting. Then, I spontaneously found myself lusting (yes lusting) for a Rolex Day Date. I didn’t know what had come over me. A shadow grew over my box full of steel watches, as gold fever took hold. I bought the Day Date on my next birthday and my collection hasn’t been the same since. Gold is so nice. Period.
This Datejust in never polished 18k gold measures 36mm diameter by 12mm thick. You can buy a gold watch from hundreds of brands, but you won’t find a nicer execution than the Oyster case. It’s a gold sandwich, in a beautiful way. The fluted bezel. The fluted screw down crown. The sapphire crystal. The massive gold screw down case back. Ah, and the solid gold Rolex Jubilee bracelet. So much wonderful gold… and functional too! Water resistant to 100 meters. Never take it off!
Rolex has always saved their best dials for their elite watches in precious metals. This original blue vignette is one of our all-time favorite dials. Date display at 3 o’clock.
Movement is the automatic winding Rolex Caliber 3035 with 27 jewels, adjusted to heat, cold and in 5 positions, and is a C.O.S.C. Certified Chronometer.
Bracelet is full-length solid 18k gold Rolex Jubilee, very clean, with vintage style clasp.
