Description
This special 5970J is accompanied by original Patek box, papers and 2014 Extract from the Archives mentioning the black dial and removable 18k Patek bracelet.

The reference 5970 is now discontinued. Unlike ex-heads of state, the 5970 does not need to let history decide on its legacy: it's one of the all-time great Patek models and is among the most collectable.

The Patek Philippe 5970R is a thoroughly modern interpretation of Patek's classical pairing of the perpetual calendar and chronograph complications. This is a gorgeous watch in every respect. The case is at once more modern and more vintage in appearance than its predecessor (the 3970). It's a bolder, more massive case with vintage lines.

Let's start with the 18k gold case. The dimensions are 40mm diameter by 13.5mm thick, with three piece construction. The bezel is quite tall and massive, while the center section bows quite broadly to allow room for the large caliber, and the screw down case back seals everything securely. Lugs are flared, which imparts a vintage style, which is reinforced by the rectangular shaped chronograph pushers. Domed sapphire crystal in front and flat sapphire crystal in display back. Water resistant to 25 meters.

Special order matte black dial with 18k feuille hands and applied hour markers. Days and months are displayed underneath 12 o'clock, nine o'clock subdial displays constant seconds and 24 hour indicator, three o'clock subdial displays leap year and 30 minute chronograph counter, and the moonphase and date are displayed above six o'clock.

The Patek Philippe Caliber 27 70 Q is a sight to behold. Manual winding with 24 jewels, power reserve of approximately 55 hours, beating at 18,000 beats per hour. This truly superlative caliber provides a perpetual calendar and column wheel chronograph construction.

Special order 18k Patek bracelet with flip-lock clasp. Bracelet is removable, should the new owner prefer to wear the watch on a strap. Once again, the 2014 Extract from the Archives mentions the bracelet and special black dial.

Watch is in mint condition with box, setting stylus, Extract and papers.
