Description
Rolex’s Cosmograph Daytona is the Alpha and the Omega in the chronograph department. Vintage 18k Daytonas are getting very scarce. This watch is a genuine rarity and a superstar collectable, with its 18k Mark 1 case, its original black “floating” dial and in particular, its original Rolex 18k mesh bracelet.
Original 18k gold Oyster case is 38mm diameter by 12.5mm thick. Crystal is plastic. Original screw down crown and Mk 1 chronograph pushers are all working perfectly. Serial number 2330XXX dates production to circa 1969, which is very early in 6265 production.
Original untouched black dial has contrasting gold color subdials, applied golden hour markers, and floating SUPERLATIVE CHRONOMETER OFFICIALLY CERTIFIED text (separated from ROLEX OYSTER). This early dial is highly collectable.
Original Rolex manual winding Caliber 727 with C.O.S.C. Chronometer certification, as witnessed on the dial. Movement has 17 jewels, is adjusted to 3 positions, and has column wheel construction. Movement is clean and running.
The original 18k Rolex mesh bracelet was and still is a little known special order, that Rolex retailers could obtain from the factory. This bracelet has a January 1969 date code and is in mint+ condition, just as the watch is.
Only one collector is going to end up owning this exceptionally nice and important vintage Daytona.
