Description
Here is an extra-clean example of one of Rolex’s most collectable watches: the Double Red Sea-Dweller. Of all Rolex watches, the Sea-Dweller is the best example of Rolex’s engineering dominance. The Sea-Dweller was specifically engineered, developed and built for professional, deep-water saturation divers. It was the first commercially produced dive watch with a helium escape valve. This 1978 watch is all-original, very clean and mint, and highly collectable.
Most interestingly, this is a true transitional Sea-Dweller. Its 5.2 million serial case marks the transition to the soon to be all white 1665s. For example, on earlier (up to 5.1 MM serials) the ROLEX on the case back was engraved horizontally. The 5.1-5.2 million serial number 1665s were the last of the double red Sea-Dwellers and ROLEX on the case back is written around the case back.
Original stainless steel case measures 40mm diameter by 16.7mm thick. Domed plastic crystal. Original Triplock crown operating perfectly. Original bezel turning smoothly. Original bezel insert shows some fading, to very nice effect.
Original untouched black Mark 4 Double Red dial with the perfect amount of patina on the hour markers and original hands. Silver date wheel.
Original automatic winding Rolex Caliber 1570 with 26 jewels and adjusted in 5 positions and to temperature. Movement is clean and running and is a C.O.S.C. Certified Chronometer.
Rolex 93150 heavy link Oyster bracelet with flip-lock folding clasp. Watch is in mint condition.
