Description
I truly love the Rolex Day Date. The President and the Daytona make for a complete collection with just the two watches. The Day Date derives its name from the fact that it features the full (unabbreviated) day on display, along with the date. Even in this digital era, it’s nice to have the day and date on your wrist, especially for us Baby Boomers.
This Day Date has a couple of cool things going on: the bark textured bezel and the special 18k mesh bracelet marked “LANE.CRAWFORD’S” and “750”. The bracelet is long and fits my 8 inch wrist. The bark bezel is also special, because it is the very finely textured bark pattern versus the more commonly seen, rougher bark pattern with wider texturing.
Original 36mm 18k gold case with plastic crystal, original screw-down crown (operating perfectly), crisp 18k bark bezel, C.O.S.C. Certified Chronometer automatic winding Rolex Caliber 1556 with 26 jewels adjusted to temperature and in 5 positions, and champagne pie-pan dial with applied golden hour markers and original golden baton hands.
Watch is from 1967, and was obviously retailed by the giant Asian luxury retailer Lane Crawford. You simply can’t find a modern Rolex with as much personality and charm as this watch has.
