Description
Chronographs just do not get more classic than this. Credited with being the design inspiration for countless chronographs that followed it, the Universal Geneve Tri Compax arranged time, calendar and chronograph in a visually compelling and organized fashion. To this day, I personally believe this is the best design for a complicated chronograph ever.
Never polished stainless steel case is 35mm diameter by 10mm thick. Snap on case back. Rectangular chronograph pushers and original crown. Serial number 1067XXX dates production to circa 1943.
Untouched original silver dial, with calendar functions arranged as follows: moonphase and date at 12 o'clock, chronograph 30 minute counter at 3 o'clock (with scale arranged in marked 3 minute intervals, which is how international and long distance phone calls were billed at the time, hence the 3 minute demarcations), chronograph 12 hour counter at 6 o'clock, constant running seconds at 9 o'clock, day in the 10 o'clock window and month in the 2 o'clock window. Uber classic and cool.
Movement is manual winding Universal Caliber 481 with rhodium plating, 17 jewels, self-compensating Breguet balance and column wheel construction.
Watch is unpolished mint+ condition on generic steel bracelet that compliments the watch wonderfully.
