Description
Cartier has really come into their own as horologers. They went from making stable and safe watches, from a design perspective, for decades to making big bold watches with top-tier movements. Witness this Cartier Santos 100XL in palladium with skeletonized dial and movements.
Palladium case is truly massive at 55mm long by 42mm wide by 11mm thick. Mirror finished bezel and matte finish on the rest of the case. Sapphire front and display back crystals. Crown has sapphire cabochon. Water resistant to 30 meters.
As daring as the case is, the movement is wonderful. Masterfully skeletonized down to only the bare essentials, and then built into a frame shaped in the form of Cartier’s iconic roman numerals. You can see the movement inside these thick roman numerals. Manual winding with 20 jewels and approximately 72 hour power reserve. Masterfully done!
