Description
The Day Date is Rolex's top of the line watch. Displaying the day of the week below 12 o'clock and the date at 3 o'clock, this model became known as the President because the watch was worn by numerous American Presidents.
Produced only in 18k gold and in platinum, the Day Date over the years has had some very interesting dials. This dial is natural Onyx, which Rolex makes from a larger piece of Onyx, into a watch dial. Because the dial is made from the actual Onyx mineral, every dial is ultimately different from all of the others, given subtle patterns in the organic material.
Original mint condition 18k Oyster case with fluted bezel, sapphire crystal, screw-down 18k crown and with dimensions of 36mm diameter by 12.5mm thick.
The onyx dial is clearly the highlight of this watch. Rolex finishes the mineral dial to a gloss finish. The dial is free of hour markers and minutes chapter, so as to not detract from its beauty. Applied golden Rolex coronet and day and date window framed in gold. Golden baton hands.
Rolex automatic winding Caliber 3055 with 27 jewels and adjusted to 5 positions and temperature. Movement is clean and running. This movement is a C.O.S.C. Certified Chronometer.
