Watches come along that are “New Old Stock” or in “Mint+” condition and they command a premium. However, the best watches are watches like this one: owned by one gentleman its whole life (until a few days ago), which proudly show that they have been worn… even on the original bracelet which this watch still has.
Obviously, being a Paul Newman, the dial is all-important. This dial does not disappoint! Very clean and simply beautiful. Original and intact luminous dots.
Case is stainless steel and is in excellent condition. Second generation original bezel. 37mm diameter by 13.4mm thick. Plastic crystal. Original screw down crown and pump chrono pushers, all working perfectly. Serial number 1874XXX dates watch to 1968. Inside case back documents the watch’s service history, including a 2016 movement overhaul so you know that the watch is running perfectly.
White 3 color untouched original white Paul Newman dial with red outer track and original, intact luminous.
Movement is the Rolex Caliber 722-1 with seventeen jewels and adjusted to three positions. Movement features column wheel construction and is freshly overhauled and working optimally and is very clean.
Even the riveted Oyster bracelet is original, with date code of ‘7-68’.
