Description
Abraham Louis Breguet invented the tourbillon in the late 1700s and introduced it in his pocket watches in 1801. The idea was to negate the effect of gravity on the balance in the movement, thus improving timekeeping, since pocket watches tended to remain in a static position for most of their time. Breguet celebrates this remarkable invention with this Classique Grande Complication Tourbillon wristwatch. This watch is new with box and papers.

Case is 18k rose gold with half hunter construction and 40.5mm in diameter. The half hunter construction is an homage to the pocket watches that the tourbillon was introduced in. Classical Breguet fluted case sides. Sapphire front and display back crystals.

Dial is silver with hand decoration and eccentric arrangement of the time, which is on a dial visible through the porthole in the rose gold lid. The dial has guilloche and blued pomme hands. Bottom of the dial features the tourbillon, upon which is mounted a blued seconds. Dial is engraved “1801 2001” to commemorate the 200 years of the tourbillon.

Movement is truly a feast for the eyes. The Breguet Caliber 557 is completely hand decorated in an elaborate manner. “Tourbillon Breguet” is engraved above the rear tourbillon cut-away. This movement has 21 jewels and is adjusted to 6 positions.

New Breguet hand-sewn strap with 18k rose Breguet deployment clasp.

This watch is new with box and papers, certificate and Breguet loupe.
